It doesn’t feel that different being 19 (especially since i kept on forgetting if i was 18 or 19 for the past few months haha). My birthday has been amazing so far and I’m so grateful for all of the amazing friends i have. I love surprises and can’t get enough of them :D

it’s finally thanksgiving break! it’s amazing being home and taking a break from college. there’s been way too much drama lately (thanks a lot, boys :P) and too much work. i still have a sore throat but it’s getting better. hopefully i’ll be better by thanksgiving.
these pictures were from an photoshoot expedition that i went on the other day with my friend Monisha. we’re pretty big camera whores (she’s a better poser than i am). it’s always fun having these photoshoots since when we usually see each other we’re sitting in class.

…and chilly, by Houston terms, means about low 60s. Nevertheless, you’ll find natives around here wearing big heavy jackets, prepared for the “winter”. I decided to give this furry hoodie a second chance – I was just about to give it away until I realized that it was one of the few “transition” jackets I had. I was impressed that it managed to go well with some of my more fashionable items of clothing – and the fact that it managed to match my hard to match heels.
hunter green faux fur hoodie [joujou – $17], cream embroidered tank [wet seal – $5], brown beaded necklace [charlotte russe – free], teal woven belt [forever 21 – $3.50], boho print skirt [wet seal – $4], brown tights [target – $6], hunter green mary jane heels [payless – $10]
A close-up of the heels. I had to make my photographer practically lie on the ground to get a pic of these. She’s absolutely wonderful. Also, Kristania of monochromachic has the same pair – be sure to check her out, the girl’s got great style. :)
A closeup of the necklace. It came with a top, so I guess it’s technically free. ;)
I’m still in love with my giant blue scarf, but I decided to wear it around my neck this time rather than as a cardigan. I tucked it into my belt to keep it in place (and to show off the buckle). :) The warmth around my neck is also helping since I have a sore throat. Mucinex is my best friend for the next day or two.

lots of love and mucinex, jen :)
Esperanza, as said in my previous post, is the annual fall formal held on campus. This year, I helped plan it! So…I guess it’s fair to say it was a huge deal to me. Unfortunately, I was running around being busy about half the night – so I didn’t get a lot of pictures in. I said to my suitemate, though, I need an outfit picture for my readers! :)
Salmon Chiffon Tiered Dress [Charlotte Russe – $24], Silver Leaf Earrings [Forever 21/Gift from Jen], Silver Stilettos [Payless – $20], Silver Skinny Belt [Forever 21 $2.25]
I haven’t been able to get many shoots lately, which is a pity to the outfits I come up with everyday, due to midterms and homecoming week planning. It has finally cooled down here in Houston, from the nasty 90 degree humid weather to a breezy and perfect 75. The first day of this weather, I decided to dress for the occasion. Kay took some absolutely amazing shots, although I did get some weird looks from people.
Blue Shirt Dress [A’GACI – $12], Brown Tortoise Sunglasses [Forever 21 – $6], Gold Leaf Pearl Drop Earrings [H&M/Gift From Jen], Vintage Owl Belt [Mom’s Hand-Me-Downs], Gold Woven Sandals [Payless – $13]
That is completely natural sunlight, unedited photo right there.

That’s all for now chicas, it’s back to work for me. =/
…and I can dress however I want to.
Actually, it was my birthday yesterday, but for the sake of the reference. :) My wonderful suitemates took me to Chloe Dao’s Fall 2009 fashion show at the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Houston. The theme was “Destruction, Death, and Rebirth”, and the night was filled with pretty outfits – not only worn by the models. It’s nights like these I wish I had an SLR camera. My point-and-shoot and not the best position in the crowd lead to some pretty bad shots. Nevertheless, here are some of my favorite looks:
And what was I wearing, you ask? Something crazy, of course! I bought this skirt a while ago at Forever 21 and had absolutely no idea when I was going to wear it. Yesterday was totally one of the best opportunities to. :)
Along with my always polished and fashionable suitemate. :)
