Greetings from Europe! (pt.2)

so i got home yesterday afternoon and i’ve never been happier to snuggle in my own bed. you never realize how comfortable home is until you leave it. my next 8-10 posts will be my days in europe, even though i’m home, since internet in europe wasn’t the best.

Day 2: Rome, Italy

on my second day in italy i went to vatican city. the line was damn long for the vatican museum but not so bad for st. peter’s cathedral. and sadly, as expected, no surprise visits from the pope. i was hoping we’d become the best of friends. :( Rome Monday 207Rome Monday 208isn’t the architecture just gorgeous? europe always amazes me with all the detailing and hardwork that went into these buildings.

i’m moving into college tonight and i’m so super excited. i get to see some of my favorite people in the world. the one thing i’m nervous about is seeing my ex-boyfriend again. he’s moving in on sunday and we’re living on the same floor, same building. isn’t life great sometimes?

i’ll finish this entry with an illegal picture i captured of the sistine chapel ceiling (thank you mr. michelangelo):

Rome Monday 128gorgeous, no? until next time.

We’ve been lazy bloggers.

Sorry for the lack of updates in the past week!  Jen, as all of you know from her wonderful pictures, has been touring the wonderful Europe with her family, while I’ve been busy moving in and starting classes!

Also, sadly, I can’t take my awesome sister/photographer to school with me, so I’m currently in the process of hunting down some friends to be temporary photographers.  It’s definitely been sad that I put together 3 outfits in the past few days but did not get a single picture of me in them. :(  But no more, I shall definitely post some pictures soon!

Later today, I will be making a post on dorm organizations/how to keep our burgeoning wardrobes neat in these confining spaces at school.  So stay updated if you want a peek at my closet! ;)

*EDIT*

Alright, as promised, a little section about organization. :)  Whether you’re cleaning up your closet at home or trying to cram everything into your dorm room at home, there’s always a few useful items to help out.

1. A shoe organizer.

If you’re a girl with more pairs of shoes than you can count, then you definitely should consider in investing in one of these.  There are several nice options at Target such as:

An over-the-door shoe organizer

A hanging shoe organizer.

2. A purse organizer.

For you ladies with an enviable bag collection, this would keep it nice and neat. :)  Also at Target:

3. Drawers to store foldable clothes in.

3-Drawer Unit, to put at the bottom of your wardrobe.

4.  Mini Wall Hooks and Jewelry Stands/Jewelry Boxes.

Pictures aren’t needed for those, but if you’re thinking of cutting the costs even further…

  • Use drawer knobs as necklace hangers.
  • Use a painted vase to pile on the bracelets and bangles.
  • Use a piece of mesh wire as an earring holder, and frame it for an artsy look!

5.  Lastly, organize your clothes in some orderly fashion -either by type, style, or color.

A peek at the inside of mine! :)

Day 1: Rome, Italy

so this past sunday was my first day in rome. we got off the plane early in the morning and went right into sightseeing. i was pretty damn jet-lagged but i still had enough energy to walk until my feet hurt. however, i was not awake enough to care about my outfit, so forgive me for these lousy outfit pictures :P Rome Sunday 064

the spanish steps

the spanish steps remind me of the movie Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn, one of my favorite movies of all time. it’s such a gorgeous film with such a lovely actress. it was really crowded so it was hard to get a decent picture.

i tried making three wishes (the first, of course, being that i wished i would come back to rome), but i didn’t realize i was supposed to toss the coin over the opposite shoulder. hopefully they’ll forgive me and my wishes will come true anyway.
the last stop of the day was the Colosseum. luckily we were able to get in quickly and it was absolutely breathtaking! as brutal as the fights were, i really wish i was around for them because they must’ve been pretty damn amazing. my brother was definitely a fan of the colosseum.
Rome Sunday 142Rome Sunday 138well i better get some sleep. until my next post!

How I wish I had this closet…

Yes, it’s even better than Mariah Carey’s 1000 + pairs of shoes closet.  Roiworld is a virtual dress-up game much similar to those cartoon dolls we played with back in the day – only the cartoons are much more modelesque, and the closet is 100 times as enviable.  While I’ve been wasting time waiting to move in, I took a trip down nostalgia lane and started playing around with the dolls.  I promise it’ll be fun and at least pass some time for all you bored fashionistas out there. :)

Here’s a look at some of my experiments:

Safari Chic, with some 80s acid wash short shorts.

If I were ever to become a designer, you'd see something like this going down my runway. :D

It’s a great way to experiment with new trends without actually trying all the clothes on yourself.  Go check it out!

I’m packing my life in a suitcase…

More like in trashbags and random boxes from the short 40 minute drive from my house to college. :)  I guess it’s a fun move for me, but it’s nothing like moving from city to city in Europe – which is what Jen’s doing right now.  This will be my last “What I Wore” for a while, as I find a new photographer/photographers at college.  I’m sure y’all would appreciate the change in scenery though!  So until I show off my newly purchased items (Speaking of which, I’ve spent nearly $500 on clothes and such this summer…), here’s what a friend of mine calls the “modern Audrey Hepburn look”.  Black is forever in, isn’t it?

CIMG2983I wore this dress backwards!  Inspired by Angelina Jolie and her BCBG of course. :)

kenneth cole reaction black sunglasses [tjmaxx – $10], black and white silk striped scarf [china], gray mesh chain tank [urban outfitters – $5], black zipper ruffle dress [wet seal – $7], black 3-buckle wide belt [5-7-9 – $5], black gloves [china], black &white bow peep toe kitten heels [payless – $7]
