It’s My Birthday…

…and I can dress however I want to.

Actually, it was my birthday yesterday, but for the sake of the reference. :)  My wonderful suitemates took me to Chloe Dao’s Fall 2009 fashion show at the Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Houston.  The theme was “Destruction, Death, and Rebirth”, and the night was filled with pretty outfits – not only worn by the models.  It’s nights like these I wish I had an SLR camera.  My point-and-shoot and not the best position in the crowd lead to some pretty bad shots.  Nevertheless, here are some of my favorite looks:

And what was I wearing, you ask?  Something crazy, of course!  I bought this skirt a while ago at Forever 21 and had absolutely no idea when I was going to wear it.  Yesterday was totally one of the best opportunities to. :)

Alexis Bledel in WWD Magazine

I’ve loved Alexis Bledel and her elegant style since her first Gilmore Girls episode.  This girl is just so stunningly beautiful and put together all the time.  While browsing through one of my favorite daily reads, Skinny VS Curvy, I found a post that made me look at Alexis in a different but good way.  Take a look at her edgy shoot in WWD Accessories Magazine.

The so fierce cover.

A New Definition of Pin-Up: Katy Perry

With all of Lady Gaga’s  outlandish costumes these days, Katy Perry’s once controversial outfits no longer seem strange in comparison.  Perhaps it’s because of this, that we can look at her style in a new light.  I’ve always appreciated her music from I Kissed a Girl to Hot N’ Cold to her almost-ballad Thinking of You, but now her unique style is what gets me. :)

I’ve recently come across her short interview in the December 2008/January 2009 issue (a while back, I know) of seventeen magazine.  She was awarded one of 2008’s 17 style stars, and I’ve transcribed the interview below.

17: Where do you go to get a good bargain?
Katy Perry: I never feel right about buying things that are more than $150 (honestly, how many stars can say that?).  I shop at Forever 21 (:applauds to self:) and get things like skirts that I can pair with something vintage I already have.

17: What 2008 trend do you wish would just die?
Katy Perry: I don’t really care for the Ed Hardy/Von Dutch look.  It’s worn-out, cheesy, and a bit trashy (I full-heartedly agree, Katy).

17: When you open your closet, what do you see?
Katy Perry: A tornado of fabulousness and rainbow colors.

She seems like such a down-to-earth girl.  Here are some of my favorite looks from her:

Such a cute belt, @_@.

Love Katy’s style just as much as I do?  Check here how you can get the Katy-inspired items below.

That’s all on Katy for now.  Good news is my Urban Outfitters loot should be coming in a couple of days.  I promise some pictures soon! :)

dELiA*s Products Review

so i finally walked into delia’s as a customer and not an employee today and made good use of my discount :) . i bought three pairs of jeans because, i swear, no other company makes jeans that fit me this well. i also took this opportunity to try on a bunch of their apparel so i could let you guys know how everything fits (because pictures online don’t always translate to real life). here are a few of my favorites: delias_fallsummer1) Elisa Plaid Shirt (39.50)
these shirts come in almost every color in the rainbow and are super comfortable. they’re great for all four seasons; wear it over a tank top, over a swimsuit, under a blazer, you name it. the cost is a bit hefty but there are tons of coupons, in-store deals, and online codes to push down the price!
2) Morgan/Taylor Jeans (Seattle Wash) (49.50)
delia’s has three new washes this season, nyc tint, boston wash, and the seattle wash. the nyc tint is similar to the copper tint (which i already have), so i only picked up the boston and the seattle wash. i really love the seattle wash (shown in the picture) which is unique because it’s one of delia’s destroyed denim lines. thank you delia’s for making stretchy, comfortable, flattering jeans :)
3) Vivienne Solid Slub Tank (19.50)
these tanks are so cute. they have a baggy fit so layering is a really good idea with these tanks. they come in four different colors (violette, turkish teal, fresh olive, turkish coffee – love these color names) and they are 2 for $25 (you can mix and match with the boy tanks and camis!)
4) Helena Flecked V-neck (24.50)
can you say, MOST COMFORTABLE SHIRT EVER MADE? :)
5) Livia Super Skinny Belt (19.50)
delia’s has finally started selling belts and they’re great quality! they have all kinds of belts so definitely check them out. personally i went for the livia super skinny belt.

finally, they also have amazing bags for relatively inexpensive prices. i’m not a bag girl myself but for those of you who own a closet full of bags, delia’s bags are definitely worth checking out.

always, jen
